Final Multimedia Project on Active Minds


This is my final project on the UNH organization Active Minds and the event Stand Against Silence. I'm sorry we couldn't view it in class today guys, my laptop crashed last week and parts of the audio got cut out when I tried uploading it this morning. I fixed the issue and it should be all set now. Let me know what you all think!

Rough Draft on Active Minds

Rough draft on Active Minds

It's a pretty rough draft right now. I still have three interviews to conduct this week, which will be video recorded so it won't just be stills. My final product will be significantly different from what I have now, and I plan on focusing the video more on the Stand Against Silence event and vigil that just happened because it's relevant and timely. I know the pictures don't exactly flow with the audio right now, but the two times I interviewed the speaker, Kevin Cannon, I thought I was going to focus the video solely on what Active Minds does rather than this event. I also just realized I forgot to incorporate his name into the video, but it will be on the final draft.
What I need help with: Do you guys think I should incorporate more statistics at the beginning, or would more than those 3 be too much? Do you think the music/video in general is too melodramatic, and if so do you have any recommendations to tone that down?

Progress for Final Project on Active Minds

So far I have spoken with the person who started Active Minds, Kevin Cannon, and he is going to ask if anyone would like to be interviewed for my project on Tuesday at the group’s meeting. I am going to interview Kevin this week or next on why he started the group. I have also viewed footage of the event “To Write Love on Her Arms” held by Active Minds last semester and am going to incorporate that into my video, along with photos of the event. The beginning of my video will consist of statistics about suicide and depression. I found this info and these statistics from the following websites:

In the next couple weeks I plan on interviewing Kevin and others from Active Minds and starting my video in iMovie including a black backdrop for the statistics. I am considering doing voice recordings for part of my project to play while the statistics are being shown. I am going to wait to incorporate the rest of the footage because I want to see how it’s going to transition smoothly first.
